Write for the Peace Chronicle
Opportunity to be published in the Peace Chronicle.
Pushpa Iyer, founder and coordinator of Compassionate Courage, is the editor of the summer 2022 issue of the Peace Chronicle, published by the Peace and Justice Studies Association (PJSA). This issue explores “Courage.”
Courage for us is always staying true to one’s values, especially when we feel targeted and attacked. The readiness to be in uncomfortable spaces when witnessing injustices is also courage. Standing up and defending one’s values at significant risk to oneself may be understood as moral courage. Courage also involves remaining compassionate when challenging others or defending ourselves. We believe that cancelling others or using the same control tactics as the person responsible for the wrongdoing has very little to do with courage. Courage is also staying accountable to ourselves. Finally, courage keeps our minds open to new ideas, new cultures, new people, new beliefs, and new languages, all to unlearn and re-learn.
We welcome submissions that are related but not limited to the following themes:
Courage vs Control
The process of developing courage
The emotion and psychological process of acting with courage
Submissions may be in the form of:
